Whirlpool are recalling certain models of washing machines that potentially pose a fire hazard. Models being recalled were sold between 2014 and 2018 under the Indesit and Hotpoint brands.
While Whirlpool deem the risk is low, with consumer safety in mind they have launched a full product recall. Anyone who purchased a washing machine that is subject to recall will be offered a free-of-charge like-for-like replacement or in-home engineering repair providing that the product has been registered.
The safety of tenants and the properties that we manage is of paramount importance to the team at Aspire Residential. If you are a landlord and you have supplied a washing machine which has been recalled, or you are a tenant who rents through us and have installed an impacted appliance at your rented property, then we recommend that you follow the guidance provided by Whirlpool without delay. You can also contact us on 01903 259961 for further advice.
To find out if your product is impacted, then please go to Whirlpool website to check, or you can ring the UK call centre on 0800 316 1442, lines are open 7 days a week.
We also take this opportunity to remind landlords that any appliance that is supplied with a rented property should be tested (Portable Appliance Test) every year.
A more general list of appliances from major manufacturers that are subject to recall can be found at the Electrical safety first website:
