The name Goring is said to mean 'people of the wedge-shaped land' and the first community was established in Anglo Saxon times.

Did you know?

  • Goring by Sea lies just a few miles from Bognor Regis, which with 1,902 hours of sunshine per year, is officially the sunniest place in the United Kingdom.
  • The English Martyrs Catholic church has a replica of the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling in Rome. It was painted by local artist Gary Bevans and finished in 1993 having taken five and a half years to complete. Bevans began the work when he was 33, the same age Michelangelo was when he started painting the Sistine Chapel.
  • Rock star Billy idol spent his youth here. Originally named William Broad, rumour has it that he was so inspired by being called “idle” by a teacher that he adopted the stage name Billy Idol
  • Peter Townshend of The Who recorded the beach sound for his album Quadrophenia on Goring beach.

Things to do

Visit English Martyrs Church in Goring Way to see the replica Sistine Chapel ceiling. Then take a walk down Ilex Way, which is one of the country's best know avenues of Holm Oaks, an evergreen broadleaf tree normally found in the Mediterranean. Take a stroll along the sea front and stop for lunch on the beach at the Sea Lane Café.

Customer reviews

"Aspire were fantastic at finding us our new home and Rob went over and above to help ! Highly recommended!" Justine Armitage
"Mike was brilliant when selling our property. He handled the planning for change of use and sorted out any problems we had. We would just like to say a very big thank you. Amazing service from start to finish." Linda Gane
"Fantastic experience with Aspire Lettings. I dealt with Robert from start to finish and couldn’t be happier. My situation may have been a little niche but he made it work, and made the whole process of moving home incredibly stress free (as stress free as moving home can be!). Very responsive, very professional but also very empathetic with fantastic people skills. Thank you so much Robert and all the team at Aspire, I can’t wait to start enjoying my new home :)" Crystal Mustchin
"The team at Aspire have looked after my rented property for 2 years and have always provided faultless service. They deal with maintenance issues quickly and efficiently. I feel that Aspire really care about their tenants, landlords and properties – and that’s what sets them apart." Alex Beatty
"We have recommended Aspire residential on more than a few occasions as we were so happy with the service that was provided. We couldn’t be happier with Rob and Aspire." Ryan Barker
"Very good experience with Aspire although the sale of the house was difficult for other reasons. Proactive communications from Aspire. Grateful for covering house viewings. Grateful for covering supervision of the vacant property and other admin jobs such as meter readings and arranging gardener." Ian Woodland
"We cannot recommend these guys highly enough!Sold our property, which our agents had failed even to get any viewing on.We had many viewings Via Aspire and this lead to the successful sale of our large property. Could not have asked for a more interactive group of people to work with, communication was brilliant with regular updates and always an answer to questions. If youre looking to sell or buy we would say these are the only guys to use. Really invested in selling properties not just get you signed up." Colin huckwell
"In 50 years of property ownership, I have had to use a significant number of estate agents. Aspire stand out way above the others. My only regret is that I will probably not have to use them again. Well done Mike and the Aspire Team, I wish you every success and happiness, which I reckon is guaranteed." Gary Sieling
"We have recently completed the sale of our flat and we couldn't have asked for a better Estate Agent service than Aspire. Mike was excellent, fielded any and all questions, and worked hard to ensure that things were moving as quickly as possible and any complications were dealt with ASAP.As first time sellers, we were fully supported all the way and never once felt pushed into anything we weren't sure about or left in the dark" Paul Lawrence
